POIRIER YOLANDE
1949 - 2015
Yolande Poirier, 66, of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on October 25th, 2015. Born in Notre-Dame-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Orise (Richard) Cormier.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 44 years, Roland Poirier, and her two daughters, Monique (François Émond) and Nathalie (Christian Doucet), both of Notre-Dame-de-Kent. She was the loving grandmother to Alexandre (12), Danie (8), Olivier (4) and Louis (1). She also leaves to mourn two sisters, Aline (late Clarence Gagnon) and Claudette, both of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, three brothers, Adélard (Mae) of Saint-Paul, Paul-Émile (Florence) of Saint-Antoine and Maurice (Jeanne) of Notre-Dame-de-Kent. She will be sadly missed by her mother-in-law, Marceline Poirier, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews from the Cormier and Poirier families.
Well-known and well-liked for the character she portrayed for several years, “Madame Yvonne”, Yolande was an actress who lived out her passion for theater and comedy with tremendous joy. She went on the stage hundreds of times with “Les Femmes de Coeur” and at the Pays de la Sagouine for two Christmas performances.
Yolande was very active within her community and her church, and devoted many years to modernizing catechetical programs. In1992, she obtained from the Université de Moncton a Certificate in religious studies, of which she was very proud.
Yolande was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, a loyal sister and a faithful friend. Her loss leaves a deep void, but she leaves us with much love.
Visitations will be at the Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Notre-Dame-de-Kent on Wednesday October 28, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 t 9 and on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 5:30 to 6:45 pm. Funeral mass will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-Kent Church on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 7:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
At Yolande’s request, donations can be made to the Tree of Hope Foundation or to the Clément-Cormier scholarship fund (for students pursuing studies in drama).
