Edna Roberta Halladay (Day) passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Monday, October 26th, 2015 at the age of 92 years. Berta was born April 20th, 1923 on the family farm near Francis, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ada Day; husband of 49 years, Arnold; brothers William “Russell”, Elwood “Glen”, Alvin and Wilson “James”; sisters: Marjorie Lane, Marguerite (infancy) and twin sister Audrey Kennedy; brothers-in-law: Gordon Lane, Harold Kennedy, Joseph Cooper, Lee Haughian and Norman Watson; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Watson. Berta will be sadly missed by her children: Dennis Halladay (Erna Del-friend), Terry (Bobbi) Halladay, Faye (Victor) Molsberry and Joycelin (Regan) Shewchuk; grandchildren: Jill (Shawn) and Kyle Halladay, Mark Halladay, Terralee (Jeff) Westphal, Tracy Halladay, Patrick Molsberry, Renee (Jason) Glushyk, Eric (Jessie) Shewchuk and Adrienne (Kyle) Yuzdepski; great-grandchildren: Ethan and Kayden Westphal, Marissa, Jordan and Rylan Halladay, Amy and Jessie Molsberry; step-granddaughter, Dawn (Greg) Kennedy; step-great-granddaughters, Amanda Hostetter (Devon) and Kaitlyn Kennedy; step-great-great-grandchildren: Madison, Ashton and Alexis; siblings: Lorraine Kohne, Laura “Eileen” (Archie) Trowsdale, Phyllis “Bunny” Norman Hein, Lloyd (Syliva) Day and Marilyn (Robert) Muri; sisters-in-law: Margaret Day, Margaret Cooper and Elaine Haughian; and many numerous nieces and nephews. Berta grew up on the family farm near Francis, SK. She married Arnold James Halladay on November 26th, 1948 and moved to the Halladay Family Farm at Lawson, SK. They semi-retired to Moose Jaw in 1983 and fully retired in 1987 from farming. Berta moved back to Central Butte in 2006, living in both Golden Grove and Iver Main Place and for the past five years at the Central Butte Regency Hospital “The Manor”. She was active in the Lawson United Church Women (UCW) for many years. Her favorite pastimes were knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching. Mom and Dad enjoyed square dancing with the Bows and Buttons Square Dance Club in Moose Jaw. Berta will be remembered for her quiet and gentle nature. Special thanks to Central Butte Regency Hospital (Manor) staff for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 31st, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Butte United Church (Main Street), Central Butte, SK. Pastor Doug Neufeld will officiate and interment will take place at Riverhurst Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Berta’s name may be made to the Central Butte Regency Hospital, PO Box 40, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
