RILEY, Helen Maude - Age 88, of Newport Station, passed away peacefully Monday, October 26, 2015 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on November 26, 1926 in Three Mile Plains, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Minnie (McCarthy) Caldwell. Helen was a member of the St. Thomas Anglican Church, in Three Mile Plains, and a member of the ladies guild for many years. She also served as secretary/treasurer for 43 years. Helen was a great cook and she loved baking cookies and giving them away to others. She also enjoyed knitting and reading. Helen is survived by sons, Dwight (Judy), Tonge Hill; Angus (Frances), Three Mile Plains; Stephen (Sandra), Newport Station; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters, Frances Morrison, Three Mile Plains and Ella Dearman, Ellershouse; many nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Ronald H. Riley, Helen was predeceased by son, Larry; grandson, Greg; brothers, Lawrence, Donald and James Caldwell. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 29. A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life took place 2 p.m. Friday, October 30 in St. Thomas Anglican Church, 4771 Hwy 1, Three Mile Plains, Rev. Tom Henderson officiated. Interment for both Helen and Ron immediately followed in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. A reception was held in the church hall. Family flowers only by request.
