Heaven has gained a new beautiful angel, Mary ‘Mare’ Elizabeth Christmas whom God called home on Oct. 30, 2015, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax at the age of 35.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of Thomas Norman Christmas and the late Marlene Dennis.
Mare always had a smile on her face even when she was in pain. She provided for her family and made sure they had everything they needed. Mare enjoyed camping and her many outdoor adventures with her children. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to her children, she never came first; her children were her world. She believed in the power of prayers.
Mare was a member of the Holy Family parish in Eskasoni as well as Sante’ Mawiomi. She worked for the Eskasoni Health Centre as a receptionist and loved her job. No matter what the task Mare did it with passion, and worked hard at it until it was complete. She enjoyed spending her time helping others and participating in community functions.
Mare is survived by her husband, Darren ‘Bubba’ William Paul; her dad, Thomas Norman and stepmother, Deboraha; her beautiful children, Crisinda, Marlena, Khloe, Noah, Colin, Phillip and Corey; sisters, Paula (Leslie) Paul, Judina (Lloyd) Christmas and Flora (Noel) Herney; brothers, Kevin (Erica) Christmas, Nathaniel (Liz) Dennis and CJ (Christina) Pictou; godmother, Deborah Isaac and godfather, Raymond James Dennis; nine nieces; seven nephews; one greatniece, Sharlize and one greatnephew, Charles; godchildren, Kyron Christmas, Seth Dennis, Jenilee Francis, Ciara Peck and Noel Christmas and her family at the health centre.
She was predeceased by her mom, Marlene Dennis.
Visitation will begin after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni. Rev. Angus MacDougall will officiate. Interment in parish cemetery at a later date.
