Margaret 'Sunny' Nazzer
Born In: Collingwood, Ontario, Canada
Born: December 30th, 1921
Passed in: Sydney, Canada
Passed on: October 28th, 2015
Margaret ‘Sunny’ Nazzer died peacefully at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney following a valiant fight against cancer on Oct. 28, 2015.
She is survived by her four children, Eric (Nancy), Toronto, Ont.; Craig (Dr. Carey), New Zealand; Laura Saunders (Captain John), Marion Bridge; Carol Walsh (Robert), New York City; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Sunny was born in Collingwood, Dec. 30, 1921, met and married Don Nazzer (deceased 2005) in Toronto in 1943 and they had a wonderful life together. Don’s engineering career brought them to Cape Breton about 50 years ago and they stayed here to raise their family and enjoy Cape Breton.
Wherever she was Sunny was active in the community, participating in amateur theater, supporting fine arts and music, serving on the local Board of Trade, acting as area secretary for the Opimian Society, helping organizations advocating for women’s issues and most recently, helping with the Sydney YMCA building fund. She also parlayed her artistic talent and sense of style into an interior design business.
An outgoing woman who was forthcoming with her views on local and regional politics, business development, aesthetics, morality and anything else you might care to think of, she will be remembered and missed.
Family will be holding a private celebration of life for the late Mrs. Nazzer.
