Passed on: November 2nd, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Malcie/Papa/Pakin on Nov. 2, 2015.
Born in Dutch Brook on Oct. 4, 1926, Malcie was the son of the late Daniel Archie and Josephine 'Josie' (MacDonald) MacQueen. He was a member of the former Chalmers United Church in Dominion and more recently Warden United Church, Glace Bay.
Malcie worked for Eastern Bakeries for over 40 years and spent his non-working time between his home in Dominion and the bungalow at Mira. He had a heart of gold and was kind and generous to everyone that he met.
He was very active in the community, having been a volunteer fire fighter with the Dominion Fire Dept. for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Golden K, the I.O.O.F. and was on the board of the Miner’s Museum. He was very involved with his church; hosting sunrise breakfasts with Chalmers Church, and he was very involved with taking care of the church and the cemetery. He also had strong ties to the PC Party.
At Mira he cherished time with family and friends, where there were many parties, lots of boating, water skiing, and bonfires with “Listerine”. Some favourite times there include lobster dinners in the spring, Butternut picnics, corned beef and cabbage dinners, and countless “random projects”.
Malcie will be sadly missed by his loving children, Diane (Keith) Stoker, Nancy (Allan) MacLellan, Linda (Frank) van Schaayk, Charles (Kim), Duncan (Mary), Donna (Paul), Anne Marie (Ray) MacCormack, Michael (Josephine) Morrison, Donna (Jerry) MacKinnon, Andy (Paula) Morrison, Bill (Sharon) Morrison; he is also survived by a sister, Hazel, P.E.I.;brother, Weston (Dutch Brook); 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Malcie was also predeceased by his first wife of 30 years, Margie (Munro); his second wife of 30 years, Elizabeth (Morrison); siblings, Edna, George, Evelyn and John.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V. J. McGillvray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev.
