COOK, LESLIE THOMAS ARTHUR: June 9, 1949 - October 29, 2015. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Surviving are his beloved family: Kris (Kim) Cook, Makenna and Karter; Dona Rae, his wife of 24 1/2 years; Carline (Darin) Norleen, Josh & Emily; Travis (Karin) Josdal, Tor, Asher, Bryn, & Erik; Stevie (Dan) Ruecker, Lincoln, Georgia & Isabella; Kris' Mother, Grace Cook; Carol McPhee, Tara (John) and Jaydyn; Natasha (Mark) Kowylak. Les is also survived by his brother, Gord (Judy) Cook, Deneen (Dion) & Cindy (Will) and their families; Sister-in-law, Carol Goodwin and her family Denea (Troy) and Nic, Jon, Jules; Mart (Sandra) and son Noah, Brother-in-law, Newman Stubson, Crystal (Kevin) & Lynette (Tim) and their families; Father-in-law, Ray Scheelhaase, and close cousins: Byron (Joan) Cook and sons; Darryl (Phone) Cook; Murray (Tony) Cook. Les was pre-deceased by his Mom & Dad, Gordon & Dora; his sister Marleen Stubson; his mother-in-law, Marian Scheelhaase; brother-in-law, Bob Goodwin and grandchildren Adam & Sarah Norleen & Ethan Cook. Les' early years were spent moving around Alberta and Saskatchewan as his father worked for the CN Rail. They then moved to Birsay where they ran the store, cafe and post office with Grandpa Art Cook. Les played hockey on a couple of teams before graduating and attending University in Saskatoon where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1971. He worked briefly for Zellers in their Management training program before accepting an offer to join Imperial Oil in 1973. Throughout Les' 33 year career in marketing on the Prairies and in Ontario, he held several roles in sales management. Les used his excellent people skills and his extensive knowledge of the business to successfully manage the business through many changes. With his genuine care for people and willingness to share his knowledge, he was a mentor and role model to many. Les and Dona loved to spend time traveling to California and Hawaii, as well as entertaining friends and family at their 5th wheel in Palliser Regional Park. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Eagles Club (F.O.E.), 1910 S. Service Road W., Swift Current, SK S9H 3T3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Les' memory, to either: STARS Air Ambulance (donation@Stars.ca) or Canadian Diabetes Association, 2301 Avenue C North #104, Saskatoon, SK S71 5Z5.
