John "Sonny" Lewis

LEWIS, JOHN "SONNY" A.
John “Sonny” A. Lewis, 73, of Steeves Mountain, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Boundary Creek, he was the son of the late Aldean and Nellie (Rogers) Lewis.
Sonny was a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces having served in Canada and the Middle East with 6 ½ years’ service. He was a retired truck driver with approximately 35 years’ service and retired from Modern Transport. He attended Steeves Mountain Baptist Church and enjoyed NASCAR, travelling, socializing with his friends and spending precious time with his family.
Sonny will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 50 years, Carolyn A. (Mitton) Lewis; sons, Duane (Cindy) of Berry Mills, Stacy (Leanne) of Hammonds Plains, NS; precious grandchildren, Kaleigh, Breanna, Mackenzie, Ben and Alex; sisters, Blossom Spence (Roger) of Steeves Mountain, Shirley Dobson (Ross) of Boundary Creek, Eldora Sherwood (David) of Lutes Mountain, Clara Eaton (Ross) of Brampton, ON, Nancy Leaman (Bob) of Berry Mills, Greta Blanchard (Laurie) of Salisbury; brother, Elmer (Darlene) of Dartmouth, NS; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Sonny’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 1:30 pm, with Pastor Gordon Horsman and Pastor Don MacDougall officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
In Sonny’s memory, donations to the New Hope Community Church Building Fund or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
