GEORGE REDFORD
George Allan Redford was born on Thursday, November 8, 1934, in Nipawin, Saskatchewan and passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan at the age of 80 years. He was raised on the family farm in Garrick, Saskatchewan. After living in several small communities in Saskatchewan and completing university in Saskatoon, he and Mom settled in her hometown of Prince Albert to raise their six children. Dad was always proud of his Northern Saskatchewan roots and his ability to be a jack of all trades. Dad is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Carolyn (nee Haugen), his 6 children, Kristina (Mike Sr.), Joan (Dean), Kenneth (Dorothy), George Jr., Leslie (Richard), Peggy (Trevor), his grandchildren, Mike Jr., TJ, Cabot, Kamiel, Cheralyn, Emilia, Xander, Codie, Chandra, Mackenzie, Kaleigh, Brock, Joshua, Kattie, Matthew, Taylor, Mykayla, Noah, Ty and Taryn and their families, his brother David (Marcia), his sister Doris, his sisters-in-law Noreen and Dianne, countless nieces, nephews and their families, and special family members Terry and Mary (Dean). He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Sylvia (nee Rothwell), his sister and brother-in-law Orrell and George Hough, his brothers, Edward and Albert, his niece and nephews Heather, Cheryl, Jamie, and Shayne Redford, Trent Lafrenierre, Troy Loseth, and Gauy Carey, and his precious sunshine granddaughter Courtney Redford. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Donna, Stella and Gina for their friendship and care. A special thank you to Dr. Gordon Surkan for his years of compassion and dedication to Dad and also to Dr. Maciel, Dr. Mizanur, and the wonderful nurses of the 5th floor at the Victoria Union Hospital who showed Dad and all of us such kindness and care. Thank you to the staff of Smitty’s and Chicken Chef for the meals and companionship over the last several years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St Clair Avenue West, Suite 300, Toronto, Ontario, M4V 2Y7. George’s funeral service will be held at Gateway Covenant Church, 1500 15 Street East, Prince Albert at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015. Interment will follow in Garrick, Saskatchewan after the luncheon, leaving the church at 2:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 306-764-2727, Carla Jesso, Funeral Director.
