Evelyn Claire Murdoch
Surrounded by loved ones, Evie passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on November 9, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born, February 27, 1933 in Eureka, NS, Evelyn was the daughter of Clair and Edna Swinamer.
Evie graduated from nursing in 1954 and lead a challenging career assisting in surgery for forty
years finally retiring in 1994 from the Aberdeen Hospital.
Evie spent many summer days on Melmerby Beach with friends. She adored her pets and always had a treat and an affectionate pat for her friend's dogs.
Evie was an avid reader and strove to solve the daily newspaper puzzles. Her friends fondly remember Evie's bridge parties and her spirited play around the table. She was keenly interested in the education and achievements of the children of families close to her. A summer highlight for her was a trip to 'the fair' and persuading the children to join her on the most daring rides and attractions.
Every holiday carried the scent of Evie's famous butterscotch and lemon pies, made from scratch the same way she learned at her own mother's bakery. Evie had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh and loved to have fun.
Thank you to the nurses and staff on the 4th and 5th floor of the Aberdeen Hospital for your outstanding care, compassion and friendship afforded to Evie.
Evie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Weldon and her parents Clair and Edna (Dodge) Swinamer.
At Evie's request there will be neither a funeral service nor a visitation as cremation has taken place.
A graveside committal service for family and friends at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens will take place on Friday November 13 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles McPherson officiating.
Donations in Evie's memory may be made to the society or charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W.Angus Funeral Home
