It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, brother and friend, James ‘Bradley’ Postlethwaite, age 56. He died at his home in Sydney on Nov. 10, 2015, after enduring a long encounter with cancer.
Born in Sydney, Brad was the son of James and Norma (Anthony) Postlethwaite, Sydney.
Brad leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra (LaRade), and his much-loved daughter, Samantha.
He grew up in a loving family with three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his parents; brothers, Kevin (Sharon); Sheldon (Mabel) and sister, Faye Raylene Johnstone (Lowell); many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard.
During his career, Brad enjoyed many years of working at Fortress Louisbourg as an historical animator. He later worked in the federal public service at a managerial level.
He was a very devoted husband and father and greatly enjoyed travelling with his family. Brad was a sincere and caring individual, always willing to help his friends and family.
His passing will leave a huge void in the lives of his family members and friends. His optimism and personal strength was an inspiration to all who knew him.
It is Brad’s request that there be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at Christ the King Church, Sydney, Rev. Glen Kent will officiate. A reception will follow the service at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
The family would like to thank doctors, Pahil, Pappula and Phil Smith, as well as the chemo nurses and the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their attentive care and compassion.
Brad was an organ donor having donated his corneas to the vision transplant team. His family would appreciate that instead of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the cancer clinic at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
