It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and granduncle, George Richard Jabalee age 86, on Monday Nov. 9, 2015 at Celtic Court Nursing Home, Sydney.
George was born in North Sydney, Aug. 16, 1929, he was a son of the late Richard and Edna (Kasouf) Jabalee. George was employed with the family business R. Jabalee & Sons Ltd, operating grocery stores and a wholesale until his retirement. George was well known in harness racing, having owned and trained many horses during his career. Some more notable were Langfelt, Anytime, Irish Frisco and many others. He travelled to Yonkers, NY, and various places in the Maritimes to purchase horses and watch races. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing golf and curling. George was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
George is survived by his sister, Rose Marie Jabalee, Sydney; his brothers, Harold (Edna) Jabalee and Joseph Jabalee, both of North Sydney, his niece and nephews, Helen Ann Jabalee, Hector and Gregory Jabalee.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
