Jelley, Alice “Elaine”, RN (née Gorrill)
Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Nov. 14, 2015. Elaine was born on Feb. 2, 1924, to Reby and Thomas Gorrill, Glenwood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Lorne and son, Paul, and siblings, Floy (MacIsaac), Wyman and Cecil. She is survived by her son, Blaine (Norma), daughter-in-law, Lorraine, grandchildren Blake (Jennifer), Kendra Butcher (DJ), Chera Holditch (Fraser) and Cara, as well as great-grandchildren Matthew, Craig, Ryan, James and Grant. Elaine graduated from the P.E.I. Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She worked for many years as the evening nurse supervisor at the P.E.I. Hospital and then at the QEH until her retirement in 1987. After retirement, she took up golf, bowling and lawn bowling. She also volunteered at the QEH for many years. Arrangements entrusted to the Belvedere Funeral Home (902-628-1881) 175 Belvedere Avenue where visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the QEH Foundation or Pat and the Elephant.
