Anastasia Korycki

KORYCKI, ANASTASIA
The death of Sister Anastasia Mary Korycki (Sister Mary Fidelma), occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Sunday, November 15, 2015. Sister Mary Fidelma was born in Gronlid, Saskatchewan, the daughter of the late Lucas and Mary Irene (Kowalczyk) Korycki.
Anastasia entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1945. She was missioned as Housekeeper at Rosary Hall in Fredericton, NB from 1947 – 1950. Sister Anastasia served as Executive Housekeeper of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, NB from 1950 – 1971. She served as Superior of St. Patrick’s Orphanage in Prince Albert, SK from 1971 – 1973, where she also looked after children. Sister Korycki returned to Saint John, NB and served at Ruth Ross Residence in Household Duties and later at St. Vincent’s Convent in Housekeeping. She was director of St. Vincent de Paul from 1981 –1982. She resided at St. Joseph’s Hospital Convent from 1982 until its closure in 2001 and ministered as a Volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Sister Anastasia currently resided at Ruth Ross Residence, Saint John, NB.
She is survived by her sister, Antonia Korycki, SCIC, Saint John, NB and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by brothers, Mr. Joseph Korycki, Mr. Pete Korycki, Mr. Henry Korycki; sisters, Mrs. Agnes Yarmie, Mrs. Rose Baraniski, Mrs. Clara Swift, Mrs.Apolonia Kuzma, Mrs. Victoria DuBois, Mrs. Margaret Cunningham, Mrs. Anna Sokol.
Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 2- to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with a Prayer Vigil at 7 pm in Carmel Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Ruth Ross Residence, Carmel Chapel on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10 am. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street (634-1965) fitzpatrickfh.com.
