Hugh Ross Robeson

ROBESON, Hugh Ross - 91, Truro, died November 13, 2015, at home in Truro with family. Born in Merigomish, he was a son of the late Hugh Ross and Elizabeth Jane (Parker) Robeson. He served with the RCNVR (HMCS Niobe) and RN (HMS Norfolk and HMS Duke of York) on North Atlantic Convoy duty during the Second World War, retired from Department of National Defence. He was a member of St John’s Anglican Church (Vestry), Royal Canadian Legion, Br. #26, an enthusiastic 3 club golfer and curler and a reluctant but spectacular vegetable gardener. He loved live theatre. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Pauline(Hayes); sons, Eric, Halifax; and Allan, Truro, Lloyd and wife Mary-Lee, Truro; grand-daughter, Lindsay and husband Paul MacDonald; great-grand-daughter Sydnei; grandson, Lloyd and wife Tonya; great-grand-daughters Ashlyn and Annabel; grand-daughter Jenalee and husband Scott Patterson; great-grand-child to be named shortly, all in Truro and area; nephews, Donald Robeson, Merigomish and David Robeson, St. John’s, Ian and Tanya Grant, St. Margaret’s Bay, Kenneth and Pat Grant, Moncton, Barry and Margie Grant, Halifax. He was predeceased by brother, Alfred and wife Marie; sisters Agnes, Hazel and husband John Grant and niece Joan Dinsmore (Grant) and husband Bev. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19th in Truro, St. John’s Anglican Church, Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Burial in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro. Donations to Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or any charity.
