James 'Barry' MacLean

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of James 'Barry' MacLean, 64, on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015.
He was born in Sydney, on Aug. 8, 1951, and was the son of the late John 'Red Jack' and Theresa (Stevens) MacLean.
Barry was a caring father, grandfather and a great friend to many.
He leaves behind his loving children, daughter, Dana Lynn (Derek) Sullivan, Vancouver, B.C. and son, Kenneth James (Cindy) MacLean, Sydney and their mother, Joy (Kelly). He will be missed greatly by his dear grandchildren, Brendon and Holly MacLean, Kelsey and Lauren Sullivan. Barry is also survived by his sister, Ann Marie MacLean, Vancouver, B.C.; three brothers, John (June) and Ralph (Mary), Sydney and Owen (Lynn), Brampton, Ont.
His sister, Sandra predeceased him in infancy and a brother, Kevin in childhood.
Barry attended Holy Redeemer and Don Bosco School. Cape Breton Regional Vocational School is where he received his machinist diploma and the Reserve Army he played the bagpipes. For many years, Barry worked away as a machinist, returning to Cape Breton with his family to fulfil his longtime dream of starting his own business. His continuous dedication to Target Hydraulics and Machine Works Limited, began in Sydney in 1993, and his legacy will continue on with his son. Barry was an extremely hard worker and would not settle for anything but the best for his family. As spoken by his friends, he made the world a better place and touched the lives of many.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Church on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Barry’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
