1932 - 2015
Leo Charles Berthelot, husband of Shirley Dawn MacKenzie Berthelot, passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on November 14th, 2015 at the age of 83. He was born in Cross Point (Claridon), Quebec on November 3rd, 1932.
Leo was a very active person in the community of Campbellton. He worked hard and played hard. He was a very social person and had many friends, willing to help in many situations. He was a life member of Branch 19 Legion, holding many positions, sick and visiting and poppy fund. He received the Queen’s Medal for services rendered and the Diamond Jubilee Medal. He was a volunteer fireman and manager of the Campbellton Water Dept. for 25 years retiring in 1986.
Leo was involved coaching Minor Hockey and his team, the Black Hawks, won the League Title. He loved to work at Bremner’s Farms. He took courses in first aid, water treatment; always to upgrade his knowledge. The Centennial Library honoured veterans including Leo for the past 3 years.
Left to morn Leo, his wife Shirley, his daughter Jane Titcombe and husband Richard of Toronto, Ont., his grandchildren: Ryan, Zachery and Ashley Dawn Titcombe of Toronto, Ont.; his sister Anita Berthelot and many cherished nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased by his parents Lucy Carroll and Onéziphore Berthelot; his brothers Harold and Victor and sisters Marie and Betsy.
Visitations for Mr. Leo Berthelot will be held at Savoie Funeral Home, Campbellton on Thursday evening from 7 till 9. At 7:30 pm, there will be a Legionnaire Service. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20th at 2 pm in the First United Church, Campbellton and will be officiated by Rev. Ross Wiseman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Willis Murphy, Gérard Jean, Linda Currie, Mike Berthelot, Pierre Berthelot, Denis Chamberlain, Mark Parker, Ryan Titcombe and Ashley Titcombe.
A donation to the Restigouche County S.P.C.A., NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
