ROBITAILLE, LORRAINE
1916 - 2015
Lorraine Robitaille, 99, of Foyer Saint-Antoine, and formerly of Bouctouche, has passed away peacefully at the residence on Wednesday November 18, 2015. She was married to the late Théophile (Theo) Robitaille (1981). Born in Sainte-Marie de Kent on October 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Elie and the late Azile (Robichaud) Allain.
Lorraine was an alumna of the Bouctouche Convent and the New Brunswick Normal School. After teaching four years in Notre-Dame-de-Kent, she moved to Quebec City. After her arrival in the city she taught English to the Bell Canada operators and then became professor at the Normal School and later at the Bellevue College. She was co-founder of the Ostomy Association for the province of Québec. In 1977, she and her husband retired in Bouctouche where she became a member of the Ostomy Association Moncton Chapter and became a founding member of the Musée de Kent. Lorraine was very active in the community as a member of several organizations such as the Musée de Kent, Le Pays de la Sagouine and many more. She also devoted many hours to the church pastoral.
She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews; Jeannita Beaulieu, Alfreda Caissie, Lucille Robichaud (Eric), Cécile Daigle (Normand), Gloria Daigle (Eugère), Valmond Allain (Rose-Marie), Laurie Allain and twenty grand nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was predeceased by three sisters; Irène (1985), Dorilla (1920), Eva (2012), and three brothers; Louis (1920), Louis (1996) and Léo (2015).
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Thursday November 19, 2015 from 7 to 9 and on Friday from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on Friday November 20, 2015 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Lorraine’s memory donations may be made to the Foyer Saint-Antoine.
