Sheilah passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, with John and Janet Evans, Keith Dingwall, Ross and Valerie Barrett by her side.
Her passing at this time was unexpected, even though she had been unwell for some time.
She was a lifelong resident of South Bar and was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Marion (Dingwall) Trew, as well as her aunt, Doris Trew, M.B.E.
Sheilah was very proud of her career as a teacher in the Sydney area. She was always happy to hear of the life progress of her former students and frequently looked at class pictures with great fondness. Sheilah was a member of several choirs in the Sydney area and also, a faithful member of Louisbourg Ceilidh Chapter of the IODE. Her love for her cats was well known and she was a faithful supporter of the local SPCA and Paws Mart.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Her remains have been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held in June 2016.
Sheilah will be forever missed by her friends, Yvonne Gouthro, Laura Lee and Kaede Takenaka.
Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Cemetery, South Bar or a charity of your choice.
