It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Cecil George Groves, age 72, on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Augustus (Gus) and Margaret Groves.
Cecil had worked for many years as shipper receiver for various companies in Toronto before moving home to North Sydney.
Cecil was known to us as a very gentle soul who enjoyed his life to the fullest. He took great pleasure in the simple things and made many friends along his journey. He enjoyed a good game of crib, collecting stamps and most recently painting.
He is survived by his brothers, Dennis of North Sydney and Harold of Toronto; by his sisters, Stella (Ned) Ingram of North Sydney, Joyce (Tom) Hacquoil of Halifax and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Horace and William (Bill) and by a sister Dorothy Rose.
The family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth McCormick and the nursing staff of the Northside General hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
