After a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, Jo-Anne, aged 69 of Bramber, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Hants Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 30, 1945, in Windsor, Jo-Anne was the youngest daughter of the late Iva (Crossley) and Earl MacDonald. She had a love for Genealogy, tole painting, bass fishing, cross crib, nickels, puzzles and quality time spent at the cabin with family and friends. Jo-Anne had a special spot in her heart spending time with all of her grandchildren. She is survived by Gary, her loving husband of 49 years; daughters, Sonya (Mark), Brooklyn; Holly (Dave), Falmouth; Heather (Rick), Brooklyn; sons, Michael, Grande Prairie, Alberta; Jeffrey (Aisha), Taber, Alberta; sister, Marge (Lawrence); brothers, Bob (Val); Mike (Mary Ruth); grandchildren, Michael, Emma, Heidi, Ally, Brett, Lexie, Jenny, Natalie, Emily, Tyson, Dylan, Laynie, Nathan and Teagan. Jo-Anne was predeceased by brother, Ken; sisters, Doreen; Judy in infancy; granddaughter, Sarah in infancy.
Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m., Monday, November 23. A funeral service was held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24 in the DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. A reception followed in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Burial was held in Bramber Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo-Anne’s memory may be made to Parkinson Society Maritime Region, 150-7071 Bayers Rd., Halifax NS, B3L 2C2 or the Bramber Cemetery Society, care of Dawn Barkhouse, 6997 Hwy 215, Walton NS, B0N 2R0.
