Antonia Korycki

KORYCKI, ANTONIA
The death of Sister Antonia Colette Korycki (Sister Marina) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Monday, November 23, 2015. Antonia was born in Gronlid, Saskatchewan, a daughter of the late Lucas and Mary Irene (Kowalczyk) Korycki.
She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on February 2, 1951. Sister Marina received her certificate with the Canadian Society of Radiologic Technicians from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John, NB, and her Bachelor of Science in R.T. from St. Louis University, MO.
From 1960-1973, Sister Korycki was the X-Ray Supervisor at Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. From 1973-1983 she was the X-Ray Supervisor and Instructor at the School of Radiologic Technology at the Moncton City Hospital in New Brunswick.
After her retirement and a sabbatica1 she was the Director of Volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In 1986 she returned to Holy Family Hospital, Prince Albert, SK, as a Pastoral Care Worker until the hospital closed in 1997. Returning to Saint John she continued Pastoral Care at Rocmaura Nursing Home until she moved to Ruth Ross Residence.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by brothers, Mr. Joseph Korycki, Mr. Pete Korycki, Mr. Henry Korycki; sisters, Mrs. Agnes Yarmie, Mrs. Rose Baraniski, Mrs. Clara Swift, Mrs. Apolonia Kuzma, Mrs. Victoria DuBois, Mrs. Margaret Cunningham, Mrs. Anna Sokol, Sister Anastasia Korycki.
Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with a Prayer Vigil at 7 pm in Carmel Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Ruth Ross Residence, Carmel Chapel on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at 10 am. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street (634-1965) fitzpatrickfh.com.
