It is with broken hearts that we wish to announce the sudden passing of our wife and mother, Marie Muriel (Morrison) Marsman on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at home.
Born in New Waterford on May 25, 1935, Marie was the daughter of the late Ronald and Violet (Burke) Morrison.
Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Marie was previously employed by Sydney School Board and McQueen’s Dairy. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and baking and was second to none in this department. Marie will be remembered for her love of visiting family and friends, helping out wherever possible and most of all, her kindness. Marie will also be remembered for her many visits to “The Building” where you could often see her sitting in the window, while visiting many friends that had resided there.
Marie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Osburn ‘Ozzie’ Marsman and her children, Glenn Morrison, Debbie Morrison, Michael (Marion) Morrison, Cindy (Paul Price), Derrick (Margaret), Todd (Lillian), and her special baby girl, Wendy. She was a proud grandmother of 11 beautiful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all her whom were the ‘light of her life’. Marie also leaves behind her brothers, Art (Rose), Ronnie (Rita), Adrian (Neila); sisters, Colleen (George MacPherson) and Ann Campbell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her one brother, Malcolm Morrison; one sister, Lorna Campbell and a brother in infancy.
Visitation for the late Marie Muriel Marsman will be held on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Marie will be on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel with Pastor Kevin Mattatall officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the Menelik Hall, 88 Laurier St., Whitney Pier. Private family interment will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, if desired, a donation in memory of Marie can be made to Resicare, Cape Breton.
The family would like to thank EHS and Cape Breton Regional Police for their kind and professional services. We would also like to give thanks to the City Homemakers, Dr. Peter Jackson and Dr. Margaret Fraser for their continuous care of mom during her time of need.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
