Garwin Edgar Purvis, age 87, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, where he resided for the past two years. Born on February 3, 1928, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Grace Alma (Sabean) Purvis. Garwin had worked for the Town of Windsor, for over 25 years, retiring from Public Works at the age 65. He had lived in Windsor for his entire life, marrying his wife June in 1954. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, music and dancing. Garwin is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former June Iona Lunn, Windsor Elms Village; his children, Freeman (Karen Horst), Kitchener, Ont.; Grace Forgarty, Halifax; Stanley (Diana Rines), South Rawdon; 8 grandchildren, Chrystina, Freeman, Brett, James, Jasson, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Jessica; several great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yolande ‘Yogi’ Purvis, Windsor; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nancy Parker; brother, Ernest Purvis; sisters, Joyce Ripley and Marie Nogler. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday, November 24, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was at 2 pm Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King Street, Windsor. Donations in memory of Garwin may be made to the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth.
