Passed peacefully away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, in his 93rd year, Eldred Drodge of Clarenville, Newfoundland. Eldred was the loving husband of Mae who predeceased him in 1996. He was the father of five children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was born in House Cove, Newfoundland and established a general store and fish-buying business in Little Heart's Ease during the 1950's. In 1973 he and Mae moved to Clarenville where they resided for the remainder of their lives. Eldred leaves a wide circle of friends and extended family. He was a member of the Masonic Order and a Shriner. He will be fondly remembered as a storyteller with a wonderful sense of humour and a great love for social occasions. He was happiest when surrounded by others engaged in conversation and laughter. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated and expressed his desire for family and friends to remember him during the joyous moments of his life and not at his ending. Visitation will take place at Fewer's Funeral Home in Clarenville commencing on Saturday evening from 7-9 and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9, with a celebration of his life on Monday, November 30 at 11 in the morning, also at Fewer's. Donations may be made in his honour to the Clarenville Shriners, an organization known for its charitable work and special hospitals in communities across North America.
