1935 – 2015
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rachel Bourgeois of Dieppe on November 27th at the age of 80, following a very courageous 4 year battle with cancer. Born in College-Bridge on April 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and late Julie (LeBlanc) Belliveau.
Rachel is survived by her husband of 57 years Thomas Bourgeois, her children Dianne (Jeff) VanDommelen, Claire (Jean) Godbout, Jean of Dieppe and Paul (Charlene) with their children Noah, Isabella and Janelle of Shediac. She is also survived by her sisters Alice Belliveau (Auberge du Soleil Dieppe) and Thérèse (Tessie) (Antoine) Bourgeois of Hartford, Conn., in-laws Ena (late Frank) Belliveau of Riverview, Thérèse (Raymond) Landry of Memramcook, Ella (Paul) Léger of Toronto and Sharon (Bob) Stultz of Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister Florence (late Jude) Gaudet, three brothers Blair (late Aurore), François (Frank) and Oscar and, one brother-in-law Eugène (late Rita) Bourgeois.
Rachel was at home to raise her 4 children. She was a member of the Paroisse Saint-Anselme and also enjoyed attending St. Bernard’s Church and other local parishes. For some 30 years she volunteered at La Maison Sainte-Croix et La Solitude de Pré-d’en-Haut and, had as many years of enjoyment at their summer trailer at the Ocean Surf Park in Shediac.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Benjelloun and ALL the Oncology and Palliative Care staff at CHUDumont for their very compassionate care. To relatives and friends who made a special visit during her illness … Merci!
Visitation will be held at the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 rue Amirault in Dieppe on Monday November 30th from 2pm to 4pm and in the evening from 7pm to 9pm. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral mass held at the église Saint-Anselme on Tuesday December 1st at 11am. Interment will be at the Cimetière Saint-Anselme.
As an expression of sympathy, donations made for a Funeral Mass read in Rachel’s memory, the Fondation CHUDumont or Fondation de la Cathédrale de Moncton would be appreciated.
