Copeland, Dorothy P.
Dorothy P. Copeland, 87, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, November 27, 2015. Born in Campbellton, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida (Horsman) Freeman. Dorothy was a retired Secretary with CNR with 28 years’ service and the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. with 10 years’ service. She was one of the original members of Hillside Baptist Church, where she served on various committees within the Church. Dorothy enjoyed knitting and quilting, and in her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and square dancing with David at Hobans Heroes Square Dance Club and travelling. Their travels have taken them throughout Europe, to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. Travelling across Canada in 1986, Dorothy and David travelled from Moncton to Vancouver for the Expo. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by her husband, David; stepdaughter, Susan Copeland of Boundary Creek and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepson, Alan Copeland (2006); two sisters, Hazel and Beulah; six brothers, Clarence, Clifford, Stafford, Harold, Lloyd and Gerald.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Hillside Baptist Church, 2290 Mountain Road, on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Jerry Reddy and Pastor Gordon Horsman officiating. Reception following the service. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.
