On Friday, November 27, 2015, Billy Ingersoll passed away unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Saint John, October 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Prince and Anna (Hachey) Ingersoll and loving husband for 54 years to Rosalie (Downey) Ingersoll. Light’n, as he used to call her, was his best friend. The sun rose and set on her.
Along with his wife Rosalie, Bill will be dearly missed by his son Billy (Trena Hanley) ; daughters Tammy Bizeau (John), Cindy Sanford (Darren) and Kelly Ingersoll (Mike Moore); brother Donald Ingersoll; sisters Shirley McLaughlin and Betty Ann O’Donnell; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren his four legged buddy “Barney” and several extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Greta King and June Gallant.
Bill was employed as a Shop Foreman at Downey Ford for more than 40 years, retiring in 1999. Retirement wasn’t for Bill though and he went back to work shortly after for Trueman’s Autobody. Bill was a lifetime member of the Red Chevron Club and loved the great outdoors. The camp in South Oromocto Lake was a favorite to him and the family and a good game of cards with his brother Donnie and light’n and the kids was a favorite pastime. He was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered.
Following cremation, the family will receive visitors Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am followed immediately by a reception at the funeral home. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Billy can be made to the Empty Stocking Fund.
