Irma E. Clarke, UE - 88, of Wolfville, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was born in Lindsay, Ontario, the only daughter of the late Bert and Alma (Campbell) Wilson. During her working career, she was employed with Imperial Life Assurance in Barrie, Ontario, then with Ontario Hydro Property Division in Toronto for many years as Executive Secretary to the Director of Property. After resigning to raise her family, she returned to work in Kingston, Ontario, with Raven Realty and Canada Permanent in Oshawa, Ontario. Until retirement in Nova Scotia, Irma was keenly interested in scuba diving and underwater photography. She was a certified NAUI scuba diver and an active member of the Dolphin Scuba Club and the Limestone Scuba and Photography Club, in Kingston, Ontario. She spent as much time as possible with her hobby, underwater photography, in Ontario, Antigua, the Bahamas and Grand Cayman Island. Irma was also an avid gardener, enjoying time with her flower beds until later years when retired in Nova Scotia. She was also a former member of the Kentville Gyrettes. Irma was predeceased in 1994 by her brother, Clair Wilson of Sudbury, Ontario. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Ted" Clarke, her son, Brian (Ann) and was Nana to her granddaughter, Erin. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth Wilson, Sudbury, Ontario and Gladys Peppiatt, Oshawa, Ontario; Jean (Reg) Learn, first cousin and lifetime friend of Lindsay, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Robert Wallace officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the family funeral plot at Riverside Cemetery in Lindsay, Ontario. A special thank you to Dr. David Nunn and the nurses on Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital for the exceptional care Irma received. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
