John Darrell MacLeod
It is with profound sadness that we, the family, of John Darrell MacLeod, announce the sudden, and untimely passing of our son, husband, father, and brother.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Marlain (Macintyre) MacLeod; his wife, Dr. Hilary Kinnear; daughter, Abbie; sister, Nadara (Harrison) Budden; brother, Tommy (Courtney); nieces, Brittany and Hailey and nephew, Broden. Grandparents, Margaret and Doug Leblanc, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Darrell was predeceased by grandparents, Pete Macintyre, Bert and Clara MacLeod.
Darrell loved many things in life, like basketball, music, camping, his family, nightly talks with his mom. He had a great sence of humour and loved sharing funny stories. Darrell loved his country, and was very proud to be from Glace Bay, but Darrell's one true love was spending time with his daughter, Abbie.
In Darrell's early years he served in the military with the PPCLI. He was a paramedic in Glace Bay, with Curry’s Funeral Home, TW Curry's in Sydney, and the QEII.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral service celebrating Darrell’s life will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at Curry’s Funeral Home Chapel. Kirk Neville will be officiating.
