It is with profound sadness that we announce th passing of our most beloved mother, grandmother and sister on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, she was he daugher of Mary and Colin Steele.
Mary's greatest achievement was her family. She took pride in her children and grandchildren's achievements. She was a dedicated mother and caregiver who always put others before herserlf. Everyone who came through her door was treated as family. She was an amazing woman, who was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. In her earlier years, Mary and her husband, Cletus, loved to dance, skate, bowl and attend regular bingo games until she beame Ill. A woman of Catholic faith, Mary was a member of the former St. John's parish and now currently a member of St. Ann's parish.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Arelene), Derek (Sherry), Todd (Wendy) and Troy (Eva). Grandchildren, Krista, Breanna, Matthew, Kate, Chris, Michael, Madison and Amanda (her special helper) and great-granddaughter, Aleigha; sister, Sharon (Joe) Harrietha; brothers, John and James and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Cletus; sisters, Diane Campbell, Donna Currie and brother, Francis.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry's Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 5th at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with reception to follow.
Donations in Mary's name can be made to palliative care, Glace Bay Hospital.
