MILLS, HELEN
Helen D. Mills, 71, wife of Gerard Mills, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Kenneth E. Spencer’s Memorial Home following a lengthy illness. She was formerly of River Bank South, NB. Born November 13, 1944 in Rexton, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Imelda (Hebert) Gaynor.
Helen attended school in Steeves Mountain and Salisbury and later began working at Eaton’s. After marrying, Gerard, they settled in Campbellton and New Carlisle where Gerard worked for CN. She later attended college in Gaspé learning to become a school teacher and moved to Norton where she sold real estate, automobiles for J.D. Clark, and later becoming a hairdresser. In 1997, Helen went to the NBCC and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at The Moncton Hospital, K.E. Spencer’s Memorial, and Forestdale Nursing Home in Riverside-Albert.
Helen enjoyed singing and writing making a few CD’s and books.
She will forever live-on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Gerard; her two loving sons: Kevin (Vesi), and Tim (Velvet); her two precious grandchildren: Devin and Nicole; her five dear sisters: Marguerite Woodman, Janette O’Blenis (Hubert), Barb Gaynor, Pat McKinnon (Ron), and Caroline Gaynor; a sister-in-law, Nina Mills; five brothers-in-law: Arthur, Ed (Terry), Gerald (Sylvia), Norman (Cathy), and Peter; many nieces and nephews.
She is also predeceased by a brother, John Gaynor (Evelyn); three sisters: Jackie Steeves (Vern), Charlotte Johnson (Harold), Elizabeth O’Blenis (Ray); and a nephew, Bill Woodman; a sister-in-law, Bertha; and a brother-in-law, Bob Woodman.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Thursday, December 10 at 11:30 am followed by a reception at the centre.
