Janet Lorraine Tucker

Tucker, Janet Lorraine – Janet Tucker of Tatamagouche, passed away December 5, 2015 in The Mira Long Term Care Facility in Truro. Janet was born in Truro into a loving family. She went to school in Malagash Mines, Tatamagouche and Mount Allison University. Janet always offered a quick, sincere smile and shared an open and caring heart. She passionately taught music in Tatamagouche and developed many successful piano students. Janet was a member of Sharon United Church and was director for the senior and junior choirs. She sang with the Tatamagouche Area Singers and participated in several local historical musicals written by Betty Murray. She was a past member of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Tatamagouche, where she greatly contributed recipes to fund raising cook books, receiving numerous compliments. Janet spent many dedicated hours supporting local figure skating for which she had a great passion. Later, she chose to add to her many activities, a satisfying second career in hair styling. Janet was the daughter of the late Carl and Dora (Barkhouse) Densmore, and was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Grace Tucker. Surviving are, her husband, Floyd; her children, Gregory; Jennifer; Gillian (Nathan Makieff); Jordan; sister, Charlotte (Terry) White; brother-in-law, Raymond (Laurana) Tucker; she was a proud grandmother of Ella Tucker, Zachary Tucker, Caroline Tucker and Tanner Makieff; nieces, Joely (Derek) Hale; Sheri (Douglas) Jones; Alecia (Gregory) Thomas; Suzanne (Danny) White-Salinas; nephew, Evan (Anne) White. A special thank you is extended to the staff of The Mira for their compassion and care and who steadily engaged and comforted Janet. Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche (902-657-3288). Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche, Rev. Penny Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Sharon United Church or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
