Surrounded by her family Marian MacIntosh, age 75 of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was the younger daughter of the late Harold and Gladys (MacKenzie) MacKenzie.
Marian was an amazing person, providing special support to others and wonderful memories to be treasured. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Marian taught school in younger years stopping to raise her family; she later worked in the family business Century Saw and Marine Limited in New Glasgow for many years. She demonstrated her faith everyday and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in New Glasgow for over 52 years. Her involvement included being a member of the Circle of Friends, lifetime member of the Catherine Mair, former Sunday School teacher and superintendent, COC, Explorers and CGIT Leader. Marian enjoyed many interests, belonging to rug hooking groups, a gardening club, a bridge club, the New Glasgow Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and she worked tirelessly with her husband for the Pictou County Branch of the Kidney Foundation.
She is survived by her husband Russell, New Glasgow; children Joan MacIntosh (Anthony Conway), New Glasgow; Jane (Anthony) McDow, Stellarton; Ruth-Anne MacIntosh, New Glasgow; Glenn MacIntosh, New Glasgow; grandsons Ben McDow and Sam McDow both of Stellarton; her family's loyal German Shepherd, Moe, who was always by her side.
She was predeceased by her oldest brother Rev. Sheldon MacKenzie and her nephew, Kenneth Clifford, in infancy. She is survived by her sister Shirley (Jim) McCormick, Middleton; brothers Clifford (Janet) Mackenzie, Pleasant Valley; George (Ila) MacKenzie, Plymouth; sister-in-law Jay MacKenzie, Chilliwack, BC; nieces and nephews Mark, Clare, Jamie, Shirley Kaye, David, Colin and Steven.
Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 11, 2015 in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson and Rev. George L. MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall with burial in the Piedmont Cemetery. Donations in memory of Marian may be made to Aberdeen Health Foundation Dialysis Unit Pictou or First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow.
