Joan Audrey Martin - 83, of Evergreen Home For Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Aldershot, Kings County, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Steam Mill, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Georgina (Allen) Turner. She had been employed with Evergreen Home for Special Care for many years, first as a Practical Nurse and retiring as Assistant Speech Physiotherapist. She was a lifelong caregiver, dedicating her time to her family and her patients. She was a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot and had been active as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon and served on several committees in the church. Joan enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, baking and cooking. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Martin, Evergreen Home for Special Care; Cheryl (Arnold) Spinney, Coldbrook and Sandra (Paul) Jackson, Aldershot; a son, Bobby (Dana) Martin, Centreville; four brothers, Garnet (Liz) Turner, Ronald (Linda) Turner, Daniel (Donna) Turner, all of Aldershot; John "Jack" (Kathy) Turner, Woodville; six grandchildren, Timothy (Melissa) and Chad (Lisa) Jackson, Adrianna and Zachary Martin, Anthony (Stacey) Morine and Stephany (Joe) MacDow; three great grandchildren, Raya and Halle Jackson and Ryker MacDow; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Martin; sister, Doreen Turner; infant brother, Murray Turner. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Kings Point to Point.
