Bernard McKeough

McKeough, Bernard Raymond, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 14, 2015 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born April 22, 1947 he was a son of the late Joseph and Eileen(Smith)McKeough.
After many years working as a local taxi dispatcher, Bernie went on to work for the Department of Natural Resources where he retired as a radio technician. A dedicated Toronto maple Leafs fan, his many interests included HAM radio where he gained many friends around the world with the call sign VE1 AY0.
Bernie was passionately dedicated to many charitable causes over his lifetime including the Canadian Red Cross, CHAD Transit, Earth Arc Rescue and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Bernie was always looking for someone he could help whether it be to lend a hand, or offer an ear, he was always thinking about others before himself. Bernie was an amazing father and grandfather who worked with everything he had to ensure his family was taken care of.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 40 years, Heather(Misener), his sons Bernie Jr.(Julie), Port Elgin; Shaun(Erika), New Glasgow; a daughter Bernadette(Steven), his adoring grandchildren Lily, Brett and Bryce, his many loving brothers and sisters, his special canine companion Molly and his many special friends who were all like family.
Cremation to take place.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Thursday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Angus MacDougall presiding.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bernie’s memory to Earth Arc Rescue, Muscular Dystrophy Canada or as Bernie would want, just simply perform an act of kindness.
