It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Collin Richmond, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Collin died peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital, Gravelbourg, SK on December 19, 2015, with family at his side. Collin was the oldest of what was referred to as a "baseball team" of children. He loved spending time with all of his siblings and was always there to lend a hand for whatever was needed be it harvest, renovations, small fixes, share a few stories and have a few drinks. Collin grew up on Sleepy Hollow farm north east of Gravelbourg. His love of curling led him to the Wood River Curling Club where he became smitten of his future wife of 45 years, Brenda. Collin and Brenda started their family at a young age with the birth of their oldest daughter Tammy. At this time they moved to Regina where Collin joined the railroad as a brakeman for six years. During those six years Collin and Brenda moved to Moose Jaw and added to their family when their youngest daughter Rhonda arrived on the scene. At this point Collin realized he would never get a word in edgewise again. In 1976 Collin started at Kalium Chemicals where he worked for 24 years. During this time he furthered his education by successfully completing his journeyman pipefitter ticket, his class 2 steam engineer ticket and welding certificate. He was a fine example for his girls. They grew up watching him continue to learn and try new things, something they both have carried into their own lives. In 2000 at the age of 49, Collin decided to shake things up a bit and left Kalium, bought a semi and hit the highway with Brenda in the passenger seat. He was the example for his girls that it is ok to take a risk and to create your own happiness. Collin loved being on the road and telling stories about his travels and experiences was one of his favorite things. He made lasting friendships across North America through his long haul trucking. In his free time Collin enjoyed curling, golf, racing his stock car at the Moose Jaw Stock car club in the 80's, helping his brothers on the farm, camping and most of all kicking back with a drink while visiting and telling stories with his family and friends. He told us he had a life well lived and had no regrets. Collin is survived by his wife Brenda; his daughters Tammy Richmond (Jason Hillmer), Rhonda Richmond; granddaughters, Karah Bowser and Caitlyn Bowser; brothers and sisters, Robin (Stephanie), Byron (Rosemary, Brent (Janine), Sharon (Brent), Marshall (Helene), Charlene (Barry), Kelly (Emmanuelle); sister-in-law, Karen; brother-in-law Emile (Sheri); father-in-law George Erick; mother-in-law Barbara Erick; brother-in-law Eugene and sister-in-law Donna Petrick and numerous nieces and nephews, all of which made him smile and stole little pieces of his heart. Collin was predeceased by his father Vern, mother Joan, sister Vicki, nephew Jamie, nephew Shaun, brother-in-law Dwayne and brother-in-law Jerry. A Celebration of Life filled with laughter and stories will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the College Mathieu Hall 301 1st Avenue East, Gravelbourg, SK, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Shamrock Regional Park P.O.
