Mark Benedict Kingston

Dr. Mark Benedict Kingston passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 26th, 2015.
Mark was born in Chatham, New Brunswick on April 6, 1924, the fifth of fourteen children of Cornelius and Katherine O’Shea Kingston.
After volunteering and serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force (1942-46) he attended St. Francis Xavier University prior to obtaining his medical degree from Dalhousie University.
He practiced in Chatham for several years before returning to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie and McGill universities.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada.
He and his family moved to Charlottetown in 1967 where he practiced through to 1994.
A remarkably kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Marion (Hurst) Kingston; two daughters: Paula (Al Cook) Kingston and Martha (Stephen Penney) Kingston; four sons: Mark (Rose) Kingston, Brian (Kerry) Kingston, Drew (Michelle McCabe) Kingston and Stephen (Michelle Buie) Kingston; thirteen grandchildren (Stephanie, Illinois, Nelson, Sadie, Ben, Sam, Georgia, Devin, Amber, Blake, Paul, Eliza and Noah); and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters: Katherine Crowe, Gertrude Duffie and Suzanne Barry, two brothers Father Cornelius and Terry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers: Father Paul, Fred, Bernard, Gregory, Father Louis, Leo and Dermot, and one sister Joan McCarthy.
Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown for visitation Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer on Thursday December 31, at 10 a.m.
Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
