Catherine Margaret 'Kay' Tobin

Catherine 'Kay' Margaret Tobin passed away Dec. 24, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Daughter of Cassie and the late Eli Novak, she is survived by her loving husband, Roger Tobin; daughters, Donna Kiss, Sydney; Cathy (Rick) March, Ontario; and Linda Roach, Sydney. She is also survived by the loves of her life; her three grandsons Eric (Natalia) Kiss, Sydney; Shaun Kiss, Alberta; and Dennis Kiss, Sydney. Surviving also are her brothers, Al (Crystle) Novak, B.C.; Fred Novak, New Brunswick; Louis and Raymond Novak, Alberta; sisters Josephine (Rocky) Richard, Alberta; Betty Macintyre, Sydney; and Normie (Alan) Kehoe, East Bay; sister-in-law, Sandra (Abbie) Neville, Sydney. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Novak, Alberta.
Kay worked in the lab at St. Rita Hospital, and with Children’s Aid before retiring. She enjoyed her bingo games and wintering in Florida and would never miss the opportunity for a shopping trip. She had many talents, the latest being needle weaving for the cruise ships.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and The Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital.
A Celebration Mass of Life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Patient Comfort Fund, Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.
