Helen Peters

Helen Theresa Peters (nee Berger) of Wymark SK and formerly of Cadillac SK, passed away on December 21, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 73, with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Pete, and their dog, Rudy; children, Ken (Denise) Peters and their children, Chris and Kevin (Sheree), Verna (Alan) Holden and their children, Charlene (Mark) and Darwin (Taci), Charlotte (Jim) Glas and their children, Bob (Ashley), Brad, Ashley (Logan) and Amanda (Mike); sisters, Maggie Kozyn and Grace (Bill) Ortman; brother, Bud (Carol) Berger; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Tony and Grace Berger; brothers, John, George, William, Peter, Paul and Anthony; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Aganatha Peters; and by four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Helen was born on July 12, 1942, at Gouveneur, SK. Helen married Pete on October 25, 1961, at Canmore AB. They later moved to Cadillac where they had three children, and later moved to Bracken, Val Marie, Spring Valley and then back to Cadillac in 1979, where they lived until 2006. Helen had many jobs in her life, but was most proud of being a mother and grandmother, and starting the volunteer program in Cadillac and area in 1991. Helen and Pete also owned and operated a personal care home and a general store in Cadillac until their retirement in 2004. In 2006 they moved to their son and daughter-in-law's acreage by Wymark, where Helen continued to enjoy cooking, baking, canning, quilting, gardening and most all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved the country life and enjoyed having chickens and many other animals. She enjoyed collecting chicken ornaments. During the past year, she enjoyed going with Pete to coffee row in Wymark and visiting with her friends and neighbours. Helen never really retired until she was diagnosed with cancer in October, 2014, when she finally started to slow down and relax.
