Daughter of Arthur and Mary Maud Williams of Penzance, Cornwall, Gwenny passed away peacefully on December 23, 2015 at the age of 97 years. She had been resident at the Long Term Care facility in St. John's, Newfoundland since September. Gwenny was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was known to be a kind and gentle soul. Her home was a warm and welcoming place where you could always find her fresh baked scones and a hot pot of tea. Long predeceased by her husband, George Charles, her grandson Charlie, and by her dear friends in St. John's, Lily Storey, Barbara Barrett, Dorothy Whittock, and Jessie Calver. Gwenny leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Tracy of Folkestone, England, and Michael and Jami, now living in Boston, Massachusetts; grandchildren: Michael and his wife Sarah, Jenna and her partner Chris of St. John's, Peter and his partner Vicki of Moncton, New Brunswick, Erica and her husband John of Aberaeron, Wales, and Stig of Bergen, Norway; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Katie and Maddie of Aberaeron, and Noah of Moncton; Arlene McCann and her family; god-daughter Marion of Crediton, England; plus a wide circle of friends in St. John's, including her dear neighbours Ray and Angela and Shirley and Robert, members of the Good Companions at St. David's Church, and her dear friends Dorothy Lalor, Vivien Wass, Kay Scott and Christine Care, who visited with Gwenny so often during her many years living in St. John's. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Gwenny's life will be held later in January in St. John's. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Gwenny's name to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
