Passed in: Calgary, Canada
Passed on: December 24th, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Jennie Lutz (MacLennan) on Dec. 24, 2015, age 90 in Calgary, Alta.
Louise was the beloved wife of Carroll for 62 years until his passing in 2011.
She was a devoted mother to her sons, Gavin (Debbie) and Floyd (Diane). She was the proud grandmother of Kim (Ray), Danny, Niki (Andrew), Krystal (Neil), Kris (Keri); doting great-grandmother to Tyson, Olivia, Mia, Lincoln and Rowdy.
Louise was originally from Cape Breton, one of five children born to John and Jennie (Clarke) MacLennan.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Catherine, Ruby, Jennie and brother Daniel.
She is survived by her sister and constant friend, Pearl. Louise moved to the Annapolis Valley in her early 20s to work in the apple factories and it was there that is where she met her husband, Carroll. They married in 1948, bought a farm in North Kingston where they resided for 33 years; raised two sons and became life long friends with many in the area.
In 1981 they retired from the workforce and moved to Louise’s family property in Cape Breton, built a cozy little home, a place that she and Carroll loved deeply. They quickly became an integral part of the community on New Campbellton Road. Louise was always quick to lend a hand in community work, assist her neighbors and was notorious for opening her house to total strangers for a “cup of tea”. She made many long term friends through her generous hospitality. She was a loving and special aunt to many nieces and nephews dispersed across the country.
Louise was greatly missed by her family and friends in Nova Scotia when she moved to Calgary to live with Floyd and Diane, where she was surrounded by a caring and loving family. With great sadness Louise leaves behind a multitude of friends and family who will forever remember her love of life, her generous and welcoming nature and her devotion to family and friends.
Visitation for the late Louise Lutz will be held in Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines on Tuesday, Jan. 5 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in New Campbellton Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
