It is with deep sadness and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the death of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, age, 91, on Dec. 29, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Peter F. and Mary (MacLeod) Chiasson.
He will be remembered for his love of music and his talent playing the piano. Art was employed by Canada Post, Point Edward Naval Base and Ministry of Transport as the district accountant for the Atlantic Region until his retirement in 1981.
He is survived by daughters, Judy O’Donnell, Glace Bay and Natoli (Rob Hayashi), Alberta; sons, Arthur (Cheryl), PEI, Danny (Sandy), NL, Paul, Cuba, Phil (Elsie), PEI, Mark (Paula), PEI, Pierre (Nina), Glace Bay, Eric (Kelly), B.C.; daughter-in -law Carol Anne Green, PEI. Also surviving is sister Betty Campbell, Ont.; grandchildren, Allan, Laura, Jamie, Robbie, Tawnya, Margie, Danny, Heather, Ferris, Nicole, Blair, Tina, Tyler, Holly, Lincoln, Christopher, Janelle, Julia, Jamie, Jamie Lee, Kate and Jessica as well as 31 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Margaret (Peggy) Fougere, brothers, Johnny, Hartigan, Felix, Garv, Mickey, Pierre and sister Lillian.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Art’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Glace Bay Hospital, VON, New Waterford Home Care, especially Fran Mugford, Billie Gracie and Kelly O’Regan for the wonderful care provided to our father. Special thank you to Tersea Doucette, Stevie Dean, Nina MacDonald and Jill Murphy for your loving friendship over the years.
