It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Snow on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Bras d’Or on March 2, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (King) Arsenault.
In her younger years Lizzie worked as a cook at Hamilton Hospital and also at the Army Barracks in Little Pond. She also worked at the Princess Theatre in Montreal.
She was a dedicated member of the former St. Stephens parish, Florence. She served as treasurer of the CWL for over 30 years.
Lizzie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her son Cecil Jr., daughter Bernice (Melvin) Pero both of Florence; six grandchildren, Cecil, Shawn, Brent, Angie, Dawn and Beth. Along with 15 great-grandchildren and one reat great-grandchild. She adored each and every one of them. Also many nieces and nephews, special nieces Yvonne Boudreau and Shirley Ann Snow;her best friend Margaret MacIntyre; sisters-in-law Catherine Snow, Jenny Jessome and Jean Snow.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Cecil ( Giggs) in 2003, sisters Theresa Reashore, Mary Cormier, Genevieve MacGillivray and her good friend Mary Fry. Lizzie enjoyed the company of her friends and family and she cared for them deeply.
Visitation for the late Lizzie Snow will be held on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Vern Boutilier officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lizzie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Vincent De Paul, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
