Florence (Roebuck) Daye-Nolan

Florence Daye-Nolan died Jan. 2, 2016, in her 104th year, a resident of Celtic Court in Sydney.
She lived most of her life in Glace Bay, a member of Knox United Church, the Garden Club, the Red Hatters and the Cape Breton Artist Guild. Florrie worked many years for Woolworth’s in Glace Bay.
Those left to cherish her memory are John and Brenda Daye, Margie and Ken MacKillop, Shirley Nolan, Mabel Roebuck, grandchildren Russell S. Daye (Virginia), Lisa Wood (Danny), Bradley Daye (Colleen), Keri Godard, Jamie Daye (Diana) and Andrea Jewell (Philip), seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, most especially by Russell Power (Dawn), Leslie Roebuck (Lorraine) who was her Friday night telephone date, Sandy Harnish (Cyril), and Eileen Miles (David). She is fondly remembered by the Nolan family.
Florrie was predeceased by her parents John Henry and Kate Roebuck, her younger siblings Leslie Roebuck, Thomas Walter Roebuck, Sadie Bond, Frank Roebuck, Reta Cameron, Dorothy Milne, her two husbands Russell J. Daye and Joseph Nolan, her son Russell A. Daye, her stepdaughter and stepson Jean Dragatis and Wilfred Nolan, and her very good friend Katie MacDonald.
Visitation for Florrie will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
The Daye family thanks most sincerely the wonderful staff of Celtic Court for their kindness and great care given to Florence during her residency. We also thank Annie and the late Harry for being helpful and supportive neighbours to Florrie while she lived at home on Pleasant Street.
