It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Albert Gould, age 71, on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at his residence.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Archie and Adeline Gould.
Albert was employed with Devco as a coal miner. He belonged to the Glace Bay Pensioners Club, the Caledonia Dart League and was an avid bowler. In his youth, Albert coached numerous baseball teams in the Glace Bay area around the 1970s. He loved to go dancing and was considered a very social, fun loving and loyal man. Albert was a regular at Tim Hortons on Commercial Street where he loved meeting with the boys and socializing.
Albert is survived by his son, Greg (Denise Milley), his partner, Theresa Grant, brothers, John 'Butch' Gould, Wes (Mabel) Gould, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Cindy (Penney) Gould, in 2008, siblings, Archie, Brian, Pat, Norm, Shirley and Deborah.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the foyer. Cremation to follow with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
