Alice Amero, 85, of Digby passed away on Jan 1, 2016 peacefully at Bissett Court in Cole Harbour surrounded by love. Born in East Boston on November 22, 1930 Alice was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Jeremiah Surrette. Alice resided in Digby, NS for most of her life. Alice will always be remembered by her many years of service to the staff and students of Digby Regional High School and for her famous muffins the students enjoyed. She was an active member of St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, and was involved with the CWL and spent many hours volunteering with the Digby area Food Bank. She enjoyed traveling, picking blueberries, baking, quilting and knitting, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family. The last number of years while battling with early onset and later dementia Alice resided in Cole Harbour NS with her daughter Dawn and subsequently at Bisset Court in Cole Harbour. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Donald James (Donnie) Amero, her twins (Dawn and John); grandson, Craig Amero (Kenneth); daughter in-law, Mary Ellen Amero (Larry) and siblings, Harold Surrette, Ritchie Surrette, Nonie Comeau and Gladys Dearth. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and the staff at Bissett Court. Alice is survived by her son, Larry Amero, Digby; granddaughter Ashely Amero , daughter Evelyn Marshall (Greg), Fredericton NB; grandchildren, Scott Marshall (Nicole), Erin VanDuzee (Mike); son Kenneth Amero (Pam), Medicine Hat, Alberta; grandchildren, Jonathon Amero, Jeremiah Amero and step-grandchildren, Jason, Joel and Jill Roland; son, Mitchell Amero(Sandra), Medicine Hat Alberta; grandchildren, Robert Frankland, Emily and Oliver Amero ; son, Patrick Amero(Tanya) Digby, NS grandchildren, Jordan and Sara Amero and daughter, Dawn Way(Tim) Cole Harbour, NS, grandchildren Brandon and Makenzie Way. Alice is also survived by her sister, Norma Comeau, sister in-law, Cecelia Surrette, and many nephews and nieces. Funeral Mass was held on Jan 7 at 11am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby with Father Keith Billard officiating, Interment in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
