Chabot: Gertrude Marie Chabot, age 98, of Swift Current, SK passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Maple Creek Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility. The Funeral Mass was held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:00 am from Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Richard Jasiak M.S.F. officiating. The organist was Yolande Gorrill and the palmist was Peggy Marshall. The pallbearers were Richard Chabot, Robert Chabot Bernard Chabot, Curtis Chabot Gary Siegle and Yvonne Rae. The Interment Service will be held at a later date. Gertrude is survived by her nephews Gerald, Douglas, Richard, Robert and Bernard Chabot; her nieces Terry Siegle, Yvonne Rae and Michelle Marcelin and their families and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Alphonse and Rose Chabot, her brothers Archille, Lucien and Gerard; her sisters Therese, Marcelin and her nephew Ronald Chabot. Gertrude was born on July 27, 1917 in Regina. She attended boarding School in Lafleche and then graduated from nursing school in 1953. She worked as a private duty nurse and nanny in Montreal from 1953 to 1967 when she returned to Saskatchewan in 1967 to look after her mother and father. Gertrude was a member of Filles D' Isabelle Cercle Ste. Genevieve in Berthierville, Quebec. Gertrude enjoyed crafts, gardening, and photography. She loved to travel and be outdoors. She was a dedicated church goer with her friends Gordon and Jackie Hagen and enjoyed going out for Saturday breakfast with her neighbour Agatha Dyck. When she was younger, she was athletic. Throughout her entire life she loved visiting friends and family and she spent most of her life caring for others. She was a strong independent woman. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
