Leo Chestley Brown

Brown, Leo Chesley, 66, of Kemptown, passed away Monday January 4th, 2016 at his home in Kemptown. Born in Kemptown, he was the son of the late Harry & Myrtle (Perrin) Brown. He grew up in a large, loving family with two brothers, Olan & Ward and five sisters, Lola, Elda, Florence, Dorothy, & Ruth. Leo worked many years with Vipond Sprinkler Company, which enabled him to travel and see the country. He decided to switch gears and finished his career at Crossley Carpets. After retirement he loved spending time with family and friends in Kemptown. Leo was a happy person with an inquisitive side. He would always tell you a good story, or tease you with that twinkle in his eye. He lived by his own rules and had a unique way of seeing the world. Leo had a great passion for music. You could often find Leo playing guitar & singing with his brother Ward at many a house party and campfire over the years. Some of his fondest memories were playing with the Barley Boys at the Debert Legion. He always enjoyed a good laugh, and or a good debate. He loved living in Kemptown. Some of Leo’s happiest memories were spent back at the KRA headquarters (the camp) with the boys, hunting, fishing, and wheeling. He never missed a chance to see to the Debert Car Show, any demolition derby or a good fireworks display. Everyone who knew Leo will have memory of a man who lived life as he wanted. A kind mischief making, fun loving, generous soul. Leo will be missed by his daughter, Tricia, granddaughters Anna & Abbey, brothers & sisters, extended family & friends. Leo was predeceased by his son, Dave.
A celebration of Leo’s life will be held at the Kemptown Community Centre on
Saturday January 16th at 3pm.
Please come out and share a good “Leo” story and sing a song to celebrate a colourful, happy soul.
