Mailman, Merle Curtis, 82, of West Brooklyn, NS, It is with great sadness that we, the family of Merle, announce his passing on January 5, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born December 27, 1933 and was the son of the late, Watkin and Beatrice (MacDonald) Mailman, Lake Pleasant, NS. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Effie (McGill) and their children, Marsha Mailman (Louis Bourque), Wolfville; Penny Mailman, West Brooklyn; Wendy (Tim) Mailman-Jolly , Mount Denson; and Sherry (Greg) Smith, Ben Jackson Road. He is also survived by grandchildren; Melanie Lefler, Jasmine Lefler, Dustin Lefler, Maria Bourque, Peter Houghton, April Clowry Hebert, Curtis Clowry, Trevor Clowry, Kyle Strong, Gavin Mailman, and Austin Smith; adored 17 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Merle is also survived by sisters, Lina Best, London, Ontario; Theta (Clarence) Overholt, London, Ontario; Ethel Rose, Fredericton, NB; brothers, Bernard, Lake Pleasant; and Shirley, Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, Bertrand, Lorenzo, and sisters, Lillian, Lenora, Merna and Cheryl Ann in infancy. Special thanks to the wonderful staff in Medical B at the Valley Reginal Hospital. Visitation was 6 – 9 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232) 194 King St., Windsor. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the Lockhartville Baptist Church. Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. Interment was in the Lower Horton Cemetery, Hortonville.
